The Ligeti Quartet: Remembering the Future

West Road Concert Hall, Cambridge

7:30 PM
£16

This concert explores the history and future of music: transformations of famous Baroque works, visionary early 20th-century quartets, Haas's reinterpretations of tradition, and the world premiere of Stef Conner's Singing Strings: A Contemporary Quartet in Conversation.

In this gorgeous programme the Ligeti Quartet explore connections between music for strings, past, present and future. As well as Stravinsky, Bach, Webern, Gubaidulina and Haas you can hear the world premiere of Stef’s new piece ‘Singing Strings’ – it’s part contemporary string quartet, part theatre piece, part essay about the contemporary string quartet, stream of consciousness rant and part children’s entertainment… if nothing else, come along and enjoy the novelty of some of the finest contemporary classical performers out there shouting “PLINKY PLONK MUSIC!!” at each other during their performance!
