Gold Lyre of Ur visits Cambridge

St. Edmund's College Chapel, Cambridge

Tickets on the door by donation

The Gold Lyre of Ur Project and the Lyre Ensemble visit Cambridge for a short musical and theatrical performance in St. Edmund's College Chapel...

Andy Lowings and Jennifer Sturdy introduce the Gold Lyre of Ur Project, which was formed in 2003 to create a playable replica of the 4500-year-old Sumerian instrument found in the Royal Graves at Ur, and perform a selection of Sumerian poems in English with lyre accompaniment. They are joined by Stef Conner, singing in ancient Sumerian and Babylonian, and Mark Harmer, playing both the reconstructed Gold and Silver Lyres of Ur. Not something you’ll encounter every day!

The show starts at 8pm and tickets are available on the door for a small donation.
